The Gypsy Cafe;; PLOT!
let's burn a hole, so we can climb out. of these paper walls, and this empty house. don't listen too close, their words are like guns. with bullets that fly and kill what you've won..
"It started with thirteen assorted men and women who knew the opposition were coming. Had it not been for Savannah Fletcher's persuasive pen, the government wouldn't have seen the war coming. I don't think Danial could ever not trust Savannah's instincts though. I mean, he was part of the original thirteen!" - Aleah Watson, 20
"When it all started, I didn't know what to think. I couldn't believe people would bring a war to Dovington. I mean, it's a pretty small town in California. This is a place where tourists still flock. How can there be spies in a town filled with old fashioned gossip and suburban families?" - Malllory Marbury, 22
"The only time the Opposition has ever gotten in my way is during my cafe waitress hours. You'd be surprised what people say even with innocent little 18-year-old girls busing tables right next to them." - Devyn Hawkins, 18
"The second my brother believed that there was real danger facing us, I knew that I'd stand by him. I knew that by the time I was an adult, I'd be a Thirteener." - Natalie Loren, 19
"My foster mom is friends with a lot of Thirteeners. They come have dinner at our house all the time. They're pretty cool people. I mean, they all genuinely care about helping the people, about helping Dovington." - Hannah Valentine, 15
"Seeing people dragged into my dad's hospital because of the injuries they've obtained because of the Opposition... That was how I ended up a Thirteener. It makes you mad eventually. How can any of us sit idly by while our families are being hurt by these strangers!" - Jeremy Jenkins, 19
"I'm just living my life. That means I've got to get my hands dirty out on the field at midnight while I'm killing an Opposition member. We're not proud of our darkest hours. If my fellow agents knew my darkest hours, they wouldn't be proud of me either." - Elijah Parker, 21
"Yeah, we get a lot of injured people because of this stupid war. I hate that they'd make Dovington the grounds for their reign. I mean, Opposition agents only attack on the streets at night. How many times have you let your 10-year-old son run over to your neighbor's house to get something though? I hate seeing kids come in. That hurts the most." - Dr. Irene Adler, 20
"I'm supposed to bring my baby into this world? I mean, it's a war! No one ever would have guessed that a war would take here!" - Andrea Danials, 15
"It's the worst watching my students grow in this atmosphere. Do you know how many teenagers talk about enlisting because of this? It's because it's here in our town. A war that's far away is so different than a war here in our town." - Cora Scott, 22
"They're everywhere. It's like these Opposition guys know our country better than us. When I was living down in San Francisco, they raided our public stores, restaurants, everything. People couldn't live there anymore, that's why I had to move." - James Avery, 18
"Some of us are just trying to be uninvolved. I'm staying with Gypsy. Gypsy would never take a side on anything." - Mallie Cadence, 22
-------------
Welcome to Dovington, California. This was once a beautiful, amazing town. Tourists came form all over the world to visit our prized river and see the interesting new faces. This place used to sparkle on the maps of city dwellers and make every summer something special for campers. Now though? Now it's been transformed into this war zone. Everyone in town is waiting until evacuation comes. Everyone knows our population will have to leave. It's not fair that the Opposition came here at all. This wasn't what was supposed to happen. I guess in order for you to have an opinion, you'll need to understand. I'll explain to you what I know.
Back a couple years ago, a small country was formed in Asia. It was very small, so small that no one ever talked about it. It wasn't taught to students in history classes, it wasn't even newsworthy. It was called Euralisia. It was close enough to Europe that the cultures mixed and clashed. The people of the country had a very dictatorial ruler who knew he would start war. As soon as the economy began to fail dramatically in the United States, Euralisia's ruler, Orsish Aurealia, knew he wanted to invade one of the world's biggest super powers. Instead of starting their infiltration on the East Coast of the Us, like most would expect if they'd seen this coming, Euralisia attacked from the West Coast.
At first, no one knew what was even coming. There came a point where spies were everywhere. The country had just come out of its war with Iraq and couldn't even see such an invasion coming from a new, fresh country. Then, Savannah Fletcher started to cover stories about the attacks of spies in major cities across the US. People thought it was a gang at first until they realized how wide-spread it all was. Savannah wrote article after article until something was uncovered within the US Government that Savannah definitely wasn't supposed to see. She found the information that the war had begun before anyone else could even think of writing about it.
When the news came fresh from Dovington Daily, that should have thrown up a red flag to the Opposition that the small California town wasn't just a small California town. Before Savannah wrote her major article, she went to Danial Loren and told him what was happening. By the panic in her tone, Dan understood that this was far bigger than the two of them. He already had so many connections within the government; he convinced them to let him open his branch of government in Dovington. Well, more like he blackmailed them with information Savannah gave him. That was how the Thirteeners were brought to life.
Danial could only assemble thirteen different men and women to join his team of agents. No one else in Dovington even believed him. After the war began to progress, there were more and more people signing up. People began to see how unsafe their town was becoming. Families were moving away in hopes to escape the war. It was never just Dovington though. People were moving away only to face greater dangers.
Now, there are more Thirteeners than ever. They all work their main desk jobs at what's referred to as "The Backlot Offices." Only Thirteener personal have access to the backlot and one other person. Savannah Fletcher has always had her special pass to keep the press appeased. She documents every step of the war.
Outside of their desk job, the Thirteeners are literally fighting. The Opposition [Euralisian agents and soldiers] have made their camps just outside the town limits and enter/invade constantly. In addition to Thirteeners, there are American soldiers camped just within the town. The Thirteeners are more investigative. They join and fight when battles come up within the town. In the meanwhile, they gather information. How does this tie in with a stupid cafe?
I know, why is The gypsy Cafe so important? Why is it the main thing Dovington is known for? When the Opposition first moved in, their first place of attack in all of America was on The Gypsy Cafe. It was a brawl. The entire cafe almost went up in flames had it not been for the local fire department responding fast and well. Gypsy Hawkins, owner of the local cafe learned the faces of the first soldiers better than anyone else. The entire town of Dovington looks to The Gypsy Cafe for information. No one can trust sources what with the soldiers checking things regularly. The Gypsy Cafe is the informational center for all the locals of Dovington. Whether it be gossip or the most recent obituaries, The Gypsy Cafe will tell you.
So, this is our world, our town, our life. I'm just one of the numbers out there living my life in a war zone. Will you join our numbers today? Will you fight as a Thirteener? Will you join the Opposition? Will you remain neutral and spend your days sipping coffee at the counters of The Gypsy Cafe and telling stories about how your best friend's mom was killed last night coming home from the store with dinner? Either way, you're part of our world now.
here i stand, won't turn back again. won't leave you, know how hard it's been hear me now, you will never be alone..
-this plot has officially been named jill in honor of frilly things-
